The likes of Tesla and Uber, among other major U.S. utilities, plan to launch a lobbying group. Its purpose will be to advocate for national policies that will promote the sales of electric vehicles. The new Zero Emission Transportation Association aims to discourage gasoline-powered vehicles and also improve consumer electric vehicle incentives. In 2019, EVs contributed about 2% towards the U.S. annual auto sales since the automakers sold up to 326 000 electric vehicles. Out of that, 60% were from Tesla. Upcoming automakers such as Lucid Motors, Rivian, and Lordstown Motors are part of it. The future is bright considering efforts by Gavin Newson, the Governor of California. This state plans to have eliminated the sale of new passengers’ cars and gasoline-powered trucks by 2035. It aimed to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and, at the same time, boost the transition to electric vehicles.
